Advent to Go

Today we loaded up the car and headed to Houston for Christmas with Justin's family. It is a long car ride to Houston especially with a 9 month old. I can tell as Ava Kate gets older her tolerance for being in her carseat for long periods of time is getting shorter. She did pretty good considering though but we did experience a major meltdown with some ear piercing screams when we got stuck in traffic about 2 miles from the exit for Justin's parents house. Since it was getting late and we weren't sure how long she would stay up we decided to do our advent activity in the car. Our activity was to read a new Christmas book so Ava got to open another present, it was The Grinch that Stole Christmas. We only made it through about half of the book before she had completely lost interest but I'm sure as she gets older she will enjoy this silly story more. We did finally make it Justin's parents and got to enjoy visiting with lots of friends and family, Grandpa's homemade spaghetti and lots of other yummy treats. Ava Kate even stayed up and socialized until about 10pm, a couple of hours past her bedtime. We can tell she is definately a social bug! She loves people and for someone who normally is very ready for bed by 8pm at the latest she was going strong tonight!
