First Getaway of the Summer

Last weekend we had our first summer getaway, a trip to Houston to visit Grandma! We loaded up the car Friday when Justin got done our usual pitstop at Storm's Burgers on the way helped break it up. Ava was a champ in the car, we sang songs, I'm pretty sure we sang "The Wheels on the Bus Rap" a hundred times, she watched movies, I still have "Angelina Ballerina" playing in my head after she watched 4 or 5 times. This was the first trip that we heard the words "Here yet?" her version of are we there yet? She was so excited to go to Grandma's house and to the beach. Friday night we got in late, Saturday we got up and did some shopping, I finally got some maternity clothes which I'm needing more and more by the day and we had a fabulous seafood meal at Pappadeux that night. Sunday morning we got up early and loaded the car and headed to Bolivar Peninsula for the beach. Pat's niece has a place down there so we got to visit family and take Ava for an afternoon at the beach. She LOVED it, she was so much more brave this year than last year when we went to the beach! She loved running out in the water, jumping in the waves and picking up seashells. Unlike her momma she could have cared less that the water wasn't as blue and the sand as white as it was in Florida. Being Memorial Day weekend the beach was packed and there were definately some interesting characters out there so I enjoyed the site seeing. That afternoon we headed back to Grandma's to clean up and rest and then we went to dinner. Monday we did some more shopping, stopped off for some Baskin Robbins and took Ava to the playground. It was a perfect combination of fun and relaxation and time with Grandma and Grandpa to kick off the summer! And unfortunately I forgot to get my camera out of the bag so the only photos we got were on our phones but thank goodness for Instagram. I've been terrible at documenting things lately!
