Celebrating Our Independence

I had big ideas about our 4th of July weekend this year but the rainy weather changed a lot of that. Pat came in town Friday and Justin and Vince were playing in the annual 4th of July golf tournament all weekend. Pat and I took Ava to see her very first movie Friday afternoon, Toy Story 3. We got our tickets and popcorn and drinks and found our spot. She was not interested whatsoever in wearing the 3D glasses so she got to watch a blurry movie. She really did pretty well as long as she had her popcorn and drink. The last 30 minutes she was starting to get pretty restless and tired and ended up falling asleep in my lap. Saturday we had the annual River Oaks Circle 4th of July parade. We decorated the little red wagon for Ava to ride in this year. She rode for a while and then she was done and wanted to be carried so we didn’t quite make the full parade. The Phelps and Flores got to join us for the parade and the ice cream social afterwards. This is one of my favorite things about our neighborhood! It’s such a special memory we make each year. Saturday night Ava got to hang out with her cousins at Nana and Pop’s while Pat, Vince, Justin and I went to the dinner and dance for the tournament. It was fun to see and visit with lots of friends and watch people get pretty silly on the dance floor and no I was not a participant! Sunday we had a family BBQ and grilled burgers and hot dogs and had homemade ice cream. After a pretty busy weekend Ava and I just enjoyed spending the day at home Monday while the guys played golf. Justin and Vince didn’t place in the tournament however Justin played his best personal round ever, shooting 69 that day!
