Girls Weekend 2010
Every summer we all look forward to our annual girls weekend and this year was no exception! Last year I didn’t get to go having just had a baby a couple of months before I just wasn’t ready to spend a weekend away from my new baby. So I was especially ready for this weekend of yummy food, drinks and girl bonding time this year! Some of our group is heading off to NC next weekend to stay at Becca’s beachhouse but some of us have big beach trips planned with family in the next month and just couldn’t plan to big beach trips this summer although I’m sure they are going to have a blast! So Kimberly, Robyn, Jill and I decided to have a local girls weekend this year and spend the weekend at the farmhouse in Buffalo Gap thanks to Kimberly who got that set up for us. We started off with lunch on Saturday at the Natural Food Center, one of my favorite lunch spots, love the stuffed avocado! After that we headed to the ACC pool for some much needed relaxing time in the sun without having to chase little ones in and out of the pool. We were afraid we wouldn’t get to layout because of the rain but the weather held off for us and ended up being perfect! After we all were starting to get a little crispy we went and picked up the last of our stuff and a few more things at the store and headed to the farmhouse. Wow, I’m not sure farmhouse adequately describes this place, it was gorgeous! We got all setup and snacked on some guac and chips and enjoyed some adult beverages. I made Linda’s pulled pork tacos for dinner. After dinner we set up our homemade pedicures complete with foot soak, hot wax, magazines, music and wine. We stayed up late talking, laughing and looking at old photos which initiated a lot of laughs! Kimberly was going to make her yummy butter rolls for breakfast and we all wanted to learn the art of these delicious rolls so we all watched her as she mixed up the dough so it could rise overnight. While she was in the middle of preparing the dough we heard a sound and we all got spooked. The house is very open with big windows everywhere and no window treatments and it is very secluded so we let our minds get a bit carried away. In all of the squeals we all got a bit distracted and left out a key ingredient of the butter rolls, needless to say we didn’t get to indulge in those this girls weekend. We finally got settled down and went to bed much later than normal for any of us. We all enjoyed sleeping in until after 9am the next morning, one of the best parts of the weekend! We enjoyed our coffee, tea, coke in the rocking chairs on the back porch looking out over the hills and talked and laughed for the longest time. Jill made us a yummy breakfast of eggs, green salsa, bacon and sweet tortillas with fruit before we packed up and headed back to reality. We all agreed we needed to return to the farmhouse for another girls weekend and next time have more than just one day to get away together. We have seen each other through a lot over the last 15+ years and I feel so blessed to have these friendships in my life.

Looks like a lot of fun and much deserved for all of you mommies! I have been to that farmhouse once before and it is so pretty. Who owns it again?
Oh, Aubrey! I am so thankful we managed to get this weekend organized. It was wonderful. I'll tell you what I tell the others- old friends and old memories are my favorites. I'm looking forward to this again next year and we'll have butter rolls, one more night and maybe no mice poo in our bed! Love you sweet friend!
