My Big Girl and Her Big Girl Room!
With the recent discovery that we are having a baby boy we decided to keep Ava Kate in her room and just get her a big girl bed since her baby brother is going to be needing the crib. Thankfully between both of our families we had several different options for beds for Ava and we ended up using Justin's Mamaw's daybed. It is a pretty iron daybed and will be great for slumber parties in the coming years. I was thankful to find the bedding on clearance at Land of Nod and it matches her walls, decor and curtains in her room perfectly so no painting or redecorating was required! Even though she rarely sleeps all night in her crib she does love it so I was a little worried about how she was going to respond to her big girl bed but once we got it all setup she came in the room and screamed "Yay!" She loves it and loves to show everyone that comes to the house her big girl bed. She goes to sleep pretty easily in it but she isn't sleeping all night in it yet but hopefully that will come in time or maybe she'll be coming to our bed in the night until she is 18!

My sweet Jett,
I love that I can call you by name now and I’m falling more in love with your name each day because it’s yours . Your sister is falling more in love with you too, she says “I’m going to hold him and rock him and snuggle him.” We are all so thrilled about you and so thankful for you! What a blessing you are to us, a true gift from God. I’m enjoying feeling the little flutters of your movements and can’t wait till your daddy and sister can share in the joy of that too. I love to sit and wonder what you will look like and what your personality will be, will you have curly hair like your sister or straight blond hair like your daddy did? Will you have blue eyes like your daddy and sister or green eyes like your mommy? Will you be a little chunky monkey like Ava Kate was? Will you be intense and stubborn like your mommy and sister or will you be more laid back and mellow like your daddy, I’m praying for laid back and mellow but I’m going to love you like crazy either way! Are you going to be daddy’s little golfer or a baseball player or something else? Either way I look forward to the days we’ll spend watching you do what you love. I also wonder what you and Ava’s relationship will be like, I do pray you two are close friends one day. I pray you will know the love of God in a very deep way at a very early age and that you will not be able to help but fall in love with Him because of His amazing love for you and His goodness! I pray you always know how deeply you were desired and are loved by your mommy and daddy! You are a treasure to us!

Summer Lovin

It’s a …………………
Boy!!! It looks like Ava Kate is going to be a big sister to Jett Wilson Jarrett! What a fun day it was today! Like I said in my last post Justin has always wanted to use the name Jett even with Ava when we had compromised on Eli. This weekend I decided if it was a boy to let him have his name choice. We wanted Ava to get to be a part of this special day so she came along for the sonogram. So I had two envelopes, one with the boy name and a blue lollipop for Ava and another with the girl name and a pink lollipop for Ava. I snuck them to the nurse to give to Dr. Mascarro before the sonogram. Ava wasn’t too excited about any of it and was just really concerned that “Mommy don’t feel good.” She kept repeating that over and over in a very concerned voice. It didn’t take long at all for the doctor and myself to see that it was a boy although the cord was also there so she did say she was just 90% sure but from what I saw I’d say I’m more like 97% sure. She handed Ava Kate the boy envelope and Justin said where did that come from, is that from you he asked Dr. Mascarro? Of course as soon as Ava opened it and found the lollipop she had no interest in the piece of paper inside so Justin took the envelope and pulled out the paper which said Jett Wilson Jarrett and immediately there were tears welling up in his eyes. Such a fun moment to share together as a family! Our sweet little Jett’s heartbeat looked great and we got to see his sweet little face too. I can’t believe how much he has grown since we last saw him, the miracle of life is truly a miracle! We are thrilled and looking forward to meeting our precious baby boy!

What’s in a name?
What's in a name, apparently a lot of disagreeing when it comes to boy names! Justin and I can agree on girl names all day long, in fact we’ve had Ava and Olivia picked out since we first started trying to get pregnant, over 7 years ago. And if baby Jarrett #2 is a girl her name will be Livi Jane, we liked Olivia but like Ava it is very popular and since Ava Kate loves Olivia the pig I thought that might confuse her when the baby turns out to be a real baby and not a pig dressed in red and white tights and the real reason is I wanted another double name and Justin picked Jane for the middle name and I just think Ava Kate and Livi Jane sound darling together! I also love the meanings of the names, Livi is a form of Olivia which means Olive Tree symbolizing fertility, beauty and dignity and Jane means God is gracious, both very fitting for this special gift God has blessed us with.
Then there are boy names, with my pregnancy with Ava we were going to use Eli James. 15 Weeks and Counting
Well I have been absolutely terrible about documenting this pregnancy. Part of that was due to the fact that I felt pretty awful the first several weeks but when I hit 14 weeks I woke up that Saturday and felt like a new person and thankfully it has stuck. More energy, no nausea, no sickness and a growing belly! Sweet baby J is now 4 inches long and about 2 1/2 ounces, the size of an apple, and this week I started feeling the first flutters of movement, one of my favorite parts of being pregnant! The heart burn has definately kicked in a lot earlier with this pregnancy but as long as I have my Zantac it is not bad. My belly has also popped out a lot faster this time than my first pregnancy. My cravings have pretty much been identical to my pregnancy with Ava Kate- french fries, potato egg and cheese burritos, fruit, pickles and popcorn.
Last time I listed some of the old wives tales about predicting gender along with my answers so I thought I would do that again.
Morning sickness- girl
Heartbeat over 140- girl
Age at time of conception and year of conception, both odd- girl
Chinese Gender Chart- girl or boy, not sure on month of conception
Feel less attractive pregnant- girl
Craving salty foods- boy
Craving fruit- girl
Wedding ring on string moved in a circle- boy
Sleep on left side- boy
Carrying low- boy
Of course the problem with all of these is if you look on one website it says one thing and if you look on a different website it says the opposite but still it is fun to play the game. Just like with Ava Kate, Justin feels certain it is another girl. Ava Kate says girl 98% of the time. And this momma doesn't have a clue this time and really doesn't care either way. I would love for Ava to have a sister to grow up with but I would also love the chance to experience the joys of being a mom to a little boy! Being the planner I am, I'm just incredibly anxious to know one way or the other so we can get Ava Kate's big girl room set up and get to work on the nursery. And hopefully agree on a name, for some reason we can always agree on girl names but it's a whole other story with boy names. We go in for a sonogram June 13th to see if baby J will cooperate and let us find out the gender.

Life with a 2 Year Old
Ava Kate is getting so big, so fast and I know when the baby arrives she'll only seem bigger to me! I figured it was time for another update so here are 20 fun facts about my love bug!
1) She is a snuggly, sassy, loving, bossy, funny little 2 year old.
2) She is constantly singing songs, "The Wheels on the Bus", "Jesus Loves Me", "5 Monkeys Jumping on the Bed", "Sticky Bubble Gum" are just some of her favorites.
3) She loves to cuddle together in mommy's bed.
4) She still has little interest in potty training.
5) She says funny things all the time like the other night in bed she looked at us and said with a forced sad face, "I got bad news." When I asked what her bad news was she just replied with the same exact look, "I got bad news."
6) She loves her family and I think she is happiest when we are all together.
7) She loves to color, paint and create.
8) She still loves her snacks and would eat all day long if we would let her.
9) If you ask her who her buddy is she replies "Jesus!" That is because her and her daddy like to listen to a song called "Jesus is My Buddy."
10) She gets to spend the summer at home with daddy and go to MDO summer program and then in the fall she gets to start at Mrs. Lucy's where her baby brother or sister will be joining her next winter. And we are so thrilled to have found Mrs. Lucy who happens to be write around the corner from us.
11) She has an obsession with kitties and has a kitty cat mode that she goes into at least 10 times a day and she often requires that we pretend to be kitties too.
12) She is crazy about bubble gum and asks for it repeatedly and she is getting better but she still often swallows it.
13) She loves to dance and let me tell you the girl has some moves and sometimes resembles Elaine from Seinfield.
14) She is definately going to be wanting to help a lot with the new baby, she loves to play mommy and have us pretend to be her baby.
15) One of her favorite things to play is Ice Cream Shop where she stands behind her little ice cream stand her daddy made her for her birthday and she puts her hands behind her back and says "what can I do for you?"
16) She loves mommy's make up and asks for lipgloss every morning when I'm in the bathroom getting ready.
17) She washes her hands several times a day now that she has figured out she can drag the stool in the bathroom over to the sink.
18) She loves to eat oranges and when I buy the little Clementine oranges she will get them out and peel them herself. She takes a little peel off at a time and puts it in the trash and then continues very patiently to peel her orange. It is things like that which make me realize how big and independent she is quickly becoming.
19) When we were visiting Grandma, Ava slept in the bed with us and she would be talking in her sleep and it was pretty funny to learn what she dreams about, one time she said "no daddy don't change my poopoo!" and another time she said "I want my sucker!" So that is what keeps 2 year olds up at night!
20) When we left the beach last weekend, several people had flags flying with skulls and other pirate like flags. As we drove away Ava waved goodbye and said "Bye Pirates!" We all just cracked up laughing imagining that she must have thought we had been hanging out with pirates on the beach all day!
